Today after church, JT and I drove an hour and a half north to Rocky Mountain National Park. The elk are out in full swing right now as they get ready to mate. Boy are they a sight to behold! Unfortunately, the road that takes us north, all the way through the park to Estes Park has been closed for winter. We were still able to drive around and get some great pictures through sections of western Rocky Mountain. We came across about 150 elk, mostly elk cows (female) in a beatiful alpine valley. Several were laying and a few were up grazing. They were about 200-300 yards away, but we got some great looks at them through our binoculars. It was a nice little adventure and hopefully we'll be doing some snow-shoing up there this winter!
