Vail Valley and Minturn

I had a few hours in between training appointments yesterday, so I grabbed my camera and hopped onto I-70 and headed west toward Vail. Vail is a beautiful valley, blanketed with thousands of Aspen trees. It is best known for it's famous inhabitants and world class skiing. It is only 25 miles west of Breckenridge. Just after Vail, there is a little old mining town called Minturn. JT and I stumbled upon this hidden Colorado treasure last weekend as we were just driving around exploring. We ended up taking the drive out by Minturn and discovered it had the most beautiful views of Aspen trees, old mining buildings, and steep mountain sides. The Minturn exit takes you eventually south to Leadville, where the tallest mountain in Colorado stands (Mt. Elbert). So these are some pictures that I captured yesterday....this next weekend we are hopefully heading south towards Crested Butte to camp one last time this year. Kebbler Pass, just outside of Crested Butte, contains the largest aspen tree grove in the world. We are very much looking forward to seeing that....

A little fall snow dusts the pines
