The Great Debate....

The above picture is our back yard. So beautiful and peaceful looking in the calm of a winter storm. You can't beat the beauty of snow in the mountains....yet trying to get around in feet of white powder is enough to make you crazy! It's a great debate - do I love it or do I hate it? Not hate in the normal sense of the word, but a very close cousin. At 6:30 this morning I was up, outside in the snow in my long johns and bare feet trying to determine
can I or can I
not get out of this driveway for my morning appointments. I gaged my guess by the 6 or so inches of snow stacked up on my jeep in the drive. And the 14 inches already on the ground.
Mmmmm, unless JT can shovel tons of snow in a matter of minutes and push the jeep up our steep drive, I won't be going anywhere. So I am torn. Torn by the beauty of such a lovely spectacle, such as snow. And torn by the feeling of truly living the mountain life. Yet, I often think of the
true mountaineers of the early 20th century - now those people lived quite a life. A storm like this would keep them hidden away for weeks and perhaps months. Talk about cabin fever. So, it's not all that bad. Just enough to make you feel very much out of control and at nature's peril. But you make the best of the situation in which you find yourself - Thank the Lord I made it to the grocery store yesterday!!
