Waikiki Beach and North Shore Hawaii

The beaches at Waikiki are definetly much more crowded than the beaches of Maui! However, the atmosphere and energy on Oahu are much more intense near the big city of Honolulu. During the days we would lay out on the beaches of the famouse Waikiki area and at nights, we enjoyed listening to Hawaiian music and watching hula dancing from the balcony of our hotel. There were great restaraunts and interesting night life dowtown in the evenings. The views of the sunset and ocean are from our balconies, which were beautiful. On our last full day, we rented a 4 door jeep Wrangler and headed up north to the North Shore. The north shore of Oahu is much more local and undeveloped than the south shore. The beaches are gorgeous and the water is an amazing deep blue hue. We drove through the luscious pinapple fields of Hawaii and stopped and hung out at the Dole Pinapple Plantation which was along the way. We layed out at Pipeline, the famous and popular surf spot and enjoyed the afternoon. After a great week, plenty of sun and amazing sights, we were less than ready to head back home. Thanks mom and dad for a great trip!
